Practice for hastings

Image
Well, October is nearly upon us and i have to prepare for the event. It should be a good day, with two games being played, in 4vs4 battles. With that in mind, i thought it may be prudent to start to learn the Viking and Norman battle board.   So here is my latest report in trying to learn the Viking way! Click here for Batrep. My opponents Anglo-Danes, forming a proper shieldwall.

SAGA Siege

Image
I have a go at a siege using the SAGA. I actually found to be quite fun, it was nice to have a siege on such a small table! Click here for SAGA Siege   Will definitely be trying out a crusader siege at some point. I think it work nicely at larger points as well.   Also managed to get a few more Anglo-Danes painted. These converted Berserkers are made using various plastics and a few head swaps.   Crusader Miniatures Harold Godwinson These are made using both the Gripping Beast Hirdmen box set and Dark Age Warriors box set....  ...everyone needs more Dane Axemen.

Batch of Battle Reports

So I have a few battle reports to get up, after an all day club session. First up is my SAGA game form the previous week with the Pillage scenario. Click here for SAGA report Then I have a Bolt Action game as part of the clubs Gaming league. This was a Point Defense mission, with my Germans against the British Click here for Bolt Action battle report Finally I have a new Sci-fi system we're playing called Dropzone Commander, well worth the look... SAGA: Anglo-danes vs Anglo-saxons.

So i am starting to try out my alternative Saxon force. To start with i have a couple of Pillage scenarios. So far i think the choice may well work, though  a Warlord Adviser will be a must. Now to find and appropriate model. Click here for Battle Report

War and Conquest

Finally after 3yrs of having the book i get to start playing WaC properly. I really think these rules are my current favorite historical set for this scale of game. Click here for Battle Report The problem i have now is what to do for this ruleset... currently we have plenty of Dark Ages players but not with large armies, so currently i am writing up a set of campaign rules for battling across the British Isles. We are probably going to start with a SAGA campaign to allow people to build up their armies to reasonable size. After that i'd like to move to WaC. There is talk of trying to build to a Hastings game, which would be great fun. As a dark age re-enactor i have been at Battle Abbey several times for the battle and would love to give it a go.  After that ... well thats going to take some convincing to the other players. I would really like to do a European campaign set with the similar design of Rome Total War, with all players taking various different armies. ...

Youtube catch up

This is a short video as i chat about current projects and some generic thoughts on things. It will also cover, to my youtube watchers what i have been putting up on my blog, so nothing new in the pictures but may be of interest!   Click here for Celts WIP

Current projects

So i have held true and finally finished a unit of mounted Hearthguard. Nice and pleased with the results.  The miniatures are from Crusader Miniatures. Also with seasons Bolt Action league, i'm trying to get into painting drab germans :D, least the method was quick and they don't look too bad either. I have 3 of these squads in 1000pts each with a LMG, Asault rifle and an NCO with Sub-machine gun. These are the plastics from warlord games.

Some Anglo-Danish action..

Below is the link to my latest SAGA battle report. Click here for Battle Report  I have also been working on more Saxons so i can change around my Anglo-Saxon list a bit. Currently i'm painting some mailed Saxons to represent my warriors to separate them from my levy. So far i have one unit. They are all Crusader miniatures.
